Many companies will take you into the hinterlands for the true Canadian wilderness experience. In the Northern Interior, especially, there are many remote hunting and fishing lodges. Some of these are located on remote lakes only accessible by float plane. If you can afford it, its a once in a lifetime experience.

I fish myself. Personally I prefer trout fishing in mountain lakes. There are plenty of opportunities to do this in combination with camping. You do require a non-resident fishing license, however. You require an additional license for salmon fishing. Click to Buy your license on-line.

The government publishes an annual guide, available in most sport stores outlining restrictions for all lakes in BC. Some lakes have specific rules with regard to hook type, bait, use of motorized boats, etc.

You may bring a hunting rifle or shotgun into Canada for legitimate  Sport Hunting purposes. I believe you need a temporary permit. Ammunition is readily available at Hunting & fishing Stores. All handguns, semi automatic & automatic weapons are prohibited. Any attempt to bring one of these into Canada, without declaring it, can result in confiscation of your vehicle. Don't do it.
