Our Yucatan - All Mexico trip is our longest and most interesting trip with a mixture of Pre-Hispanic ruins, lakes and beaches and Colonial Cities. Thois is a trip of a lifetime with our 3 month "whole Mexico loop." We will explore Mexico's Colonial Interior then head for the Caribbean coast and the Yucatan, exploring both well known Mayan sites and many that tourists seldom visit, like the remote - impressive ruins at Calakmul, near the Guatemalan border. All your RV parks are covered, plus many meals & tours. We will end the trip with some relaxing beach stays on the west coast. We will cruise on Lake Bacalar, sometimes referred to as the Maldives of the Americas, swim in jungle rivers & sink holes, witness thousands of bats emerge from a cave at sunset and observe strange religious practices in the highlands of Chiapas. We will stay at an orphanage in Chiapas. On our last trip we raised enough money to supply it with an extra fridge and a washing machine.
This trip crosses in Mission Texas and makes its way Saltillo, then the World Heritage city of Zacatecas. Next it goes to Guanajuato, by far one of the most interesting cities in Mexico. From there, we tour Mexico City, where we will visit our first set of ruins at Teotihuacan, the national Museum and the Folkloric Ballet. We then head over to the east coast, also known as the Emerald Coast. There we will hit our first beaches, and several of the archaeological sites we will visit on this trip. From there, we head to the Maya coast, more beaches, and several Mayan ruins. We will head south to close to the border with Belize and visit beautiful Lake Bacalar, often called the Maldives of Mexico. From there we head to Chiapas, with its unique Indian culture, visiting the remote archaeological site of Calukmul. In Chiapas we will visit swimmable rivers, waterfalls, more Mayan ruins and the culturally interesting city of San Cristobal de las Casas. We will will also visit Hogar orphanage which has camping. We will cruise the Sumidero Canyon, one of the worlds deepest. From Chiapas we will drive back north to Oaxaca, then back to the Mexico City Area and onward to Patzcuaro and Guadalajara. On the way we will visit the Monarch Butterfly reserve where thousands of Monarchs journey from Canada each Spring in one of the most remarkable mating cycles in the insect world. From Guadalajara, we will drive down to the west coast and slowly work our way north, stopping at many beaches, until we reach the US border at Nogales, Az. The complete schedule is further below.
.
The price (for 2027) is $21,500 Canadian. That is approximately $15,500 USD. It includes all RV Parks, at least 30 guided tour days, 35 full meals, 3 nights hotel and 4 cooking classes. We always add unscheduled extras. The trip often includes Spanish classes if we have a native Spanish Speaking Wagon Master. We have a Green Angel (like AAA) escort for most of the trip.
.
We run trips in both English and French. All customers on our French trip are Canadian, with about 50% on English trips, also Canadian. This means that overall, 3/4 of our customers are Canadian, so it makes sense to price in that currency. We do, however accept US dollars at the book exchange rate (not buy/sell) and you may make your payments in US equivalent. We have a widget to do the conversion. We also discount 3.5% for any payments not made by credit card. You make yoru last payment (about 1/3rd) at the border, so that portion does not have to be covered by travel insurance if you purchase that.
.
I won't lie to you. The highway infrastructure is mixed, and RV park quality in the south is not as good as further north. Many power supplies are only 15 Amp and some parks have a common water supply and dump. Do not expect Thousand Trails type resorts. However this trip is so damned interesting you probably will not mind. There is more dry camping on this trip than on our other ones. Approach this trip as an Adventure and you will have a great memorable time.
.
Yes, more so than on our other trips, but on longer days we make plenty of stops
.
This is the schedule for 2026. 2027 will be very similar, and it gives you an idea. The start date may vary by a day or 2.
